March 2016: Creating Thinking Classrooms

Leading change in 21st century schools requires clear goals and a clear vision for the schools we want. This requires a reorientation of the central goals of education and a renovation to existing practices that builds upon the quality work already being done in schools.

The workshop will explore a renewed vision for schools built upon the notion of a "thinking classroom" and the five pillars required to renovate teaching practices for the 21st century. Issues such as academic engagement, sustained inquiry, digital-enhanced learning and assessment-rich learning will be explored with many practical suggestions shared for renovating schools to place quality thinking at the core of learning for all children.
